Questions and Answers

All answers taken from Dr. Lee’s Book, “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause.”

What Are Phytoestrogens And Why Are They Important? Dr. Lee says on page 35 of his book, “Phytoestrogens refer to plant compounds with estrogen-like activity. They are usually considerable weaker than one’s own estrogens and compete for the same estrogen receptors throughout the body. Thus they have often been used successfully to decrease symptoms of estrogen excess.” Phyto estrogens are believed to occupy the body’s estrogen receptor sites and serve as safe, mild estrogen supplements, and prevent the harsh environmental xeno-estrogens (found in petroleum based products like: pesticides, plastics, herbicides, artificial fabrics like polyester, etc., and are hundreds of thousands of times stronger than the body’s estrogens) from attaching to the body’s estrogen receptor sites and causing severe hormonal imbalances. Many plants contain phytoestrogens. OE- Natural Progesterone Cream with Phytoestrogens contains Black Cocosh and Red Clover Leaf Extract as its phytoestrogens.

Is Natural Progesterone Useful For Women With Osteoporosis? John R. Lee, MD has treated 68 women with osteoporosis and has been giving them natural progesterone cream. All of the women in his study have experienced an increase in bone density ranging from 5-40% after having used the cream for 6 to 48 months. He has found that the use of natural progesterone is successful even decades after menopause. In one case, an 82 year old woman has been using natural progesterone for 4 years, and has had a greater than 40% increase in bone density as proven by dual photon absorptionometry.

Historical Perspective On Progesterone Deficiency:
Historically, little girls have grown into women, become pregnant, given birth and progressed through menopause with little difficulty or discomfort. However, in the last 100 years the ease of this natural cyclic progression through womanhood has changed. About the time of the Industrial Revolution, women began to report a wide variety of ailments related to their menstrual cycles and menopause. Now, in the 21st century, menstrual and menopausal problems have reached almost epidemic proportions affecting at least 50% of the women in North America alone (reported by Jerilyn Prior, M.D., and endocrinology professor at the University of British Columbia). Decades ago, when women’s complaints first began to increase, doctors blamed psychological disorders, and later blamed an estrogen deficiency for their discomfort. Then, in 1938, the Journal of The American Medical Association (JAMA), published an article by Leon Israel, M.D., stating that the menstrual and menopausal difficulties may be caused by too much estrogen (estrogen dominance) and too little progesterone. He believed that these problems could beeasily corrected by giving women progesterone supplements to increase the body’s progesterone levels, and not by giving estrogen supplements.

Next, Katharina Dalton, M.D., of England proved that giving natural progesterone supplements did, indeed raise the progesterone levels in the body and were very effective for the treatment of PMS in her ground breaking report, “The Premenstrual Syndrome” 1964.Then, Joel Hargrove, M.D., from Vanderbilt University, showed that natural progesterone supplementation worked for menopausal women, as well as pre-menopausal women. Finally, John R. Lee, M.D., has shown that natural progesterone supplementation can increase bone density levels in women suffering from osteoporosis, and that the best way to supplement the body’s progesterone levels is with a natural progesterone TOPICAL CREAM containing between 450mg and 550 mg of natural progesterone USP per ounce. Dr. John R. Lee has successfully treated female patients with natural progesterone creams for over 25 years. This is chronicled in Dr. Lee’s Book, “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause.” Natural progesterone is not the same as the progestin found in prescription medications like the birth control pills or other pharmaceutical drugs. Most doctors refer to these drugs as progesterone, but they are not. Progestins are chemicals that do not have the same molecular structure as natural progesterone. Because progestins are different than natural progesterone, they have many precautions for use and even some dangerous side effects. Natural progesterone is identical to the natural human progesterone molecule, and it has no side effects and, according to Dr. Katharina Dalton, it can’t be over used, in women.

OE- Natural Progesterone Creams

Again, according to Dr John R. Lee, the most effective method of restoring physiologic progesterone levels is with the proper supplementation oftransdermally applied (topical cream) natural progesterone. Organic Excellence has 2 natural progesterone creams, one with and one without phytoestrogens. Both creams are in a chemical free base with certified organic herbs, and contain approximately 500 mg of natural progesterone per ounce. Organic Excellence is the only company that formulates its natural progesterone creams (and all of its products) in a chemical free base with certified organic herbs, and is recommended by Dr. Gloria Gilbere, an internationally known expertin Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, for all of her chemically sensitive patients.
